CABA or powered FAHBA with hood, helmet or visor

  • This BA is designed to provide protection factors of 10, 20 and 40
  • If fitted to an airline suit, the protection factor is 200
  • 'Constant flow' means that the manufacturer or user sets the air supply rate. This gives a constant flow rate at the selected air supply pressure
  • Flow indicators and alarms are needed
  • This BA can be cleaned and reused many times, as recommended by the manufacturer
  • The BA may be worn continuously for more than one hour and may be used in oxygen deficient atmospheres
  • The BA is adequate for medium work rate (work involving sustained hand and arm movements, or similar to brisk walking)
  • It is also suitable for a heavy work rate (heavy manual work requiring a lot of exertion and energy).

  • Ensure that an adequate clean air supply is available
  • Ensure that the air line is never deformed - the wearer's life may be at risk without an adequate air supply
  • Select the right type of hood for the task
  • Select the right size of hood for each wearer
  • Fit-testing for each wearer is required when using this RPE for the first time
  • Fit the straps / cords as recommended
  • After use, always clean the BA and store it in a clean place
  • Ensure that the compressed air quality meets the minimum requirements of BSEN12021.

  • Use a light-duty airline hose where there is any potential for crushing by passer-by etc
  • Allow the airline to come into contact with solvents
  • Keep working if the airflow rates drops or any of the warning signals are activated
  • Store in dirty areas between uses
  • Use solvents to clean the mask, straps or hose
  • Make DIY modifications to the RPE.
