Travel health awareness

During 2005-2006, UK residents took more than 67.5 million overseas trips. Of these, 8.1 million were for business (figures from The Office of National Statistics – Travel Trends).

With so much travel, it is in the interest of both employer, and employees, to ensure trips are as illness and injury free as possible.

Travel across the world is now so common that it is easy to forget the health risks that can be involved. For a successful trip, the key is about planning ahead.

Topics to be aware of are:

  • travel planning
  • malaria
  • immunisations
  • sun safety
  • sexual health
  • deep vein thrombosis
  • food and drink safety
  • accidents.
